By accessing or using epubfile.com (the "Service"), operated by Zhentao Wen ("we", "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
EpubFile provides a free, browser-based EPUB reader and a set of free tools for ebook creators, including a cover size guide, EPUB file inspector, and font preview tool. We also offer paid freelance book design services, described separately under Section 07.
All reader and tool functionality runs locally in your browser. We do not operate a backend server that stores, transmits, or has access to your book files or reading data.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You will not:
Any EPUB files, text, or images you open or upload in the reader or tools remain entirely under your control and ownership. As described in our Privacy Policy, these files are processed locally in your browser and are never transmitted to, or stored on, our servers. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to use any content you process through the Service.
The EpubFile name, logo, website design, and original tool code are the property of Zhentao Wen. The Service uses open-source libraries (including epub.js, JSZip, and localForage) under their respective licenses. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works of the EpubFile website or branding without permission.
Platform requirements shown in the Cover Size Guide (e.g. for KDP, Apple Books, Kobo) are based on publicly available information at the time of writing and may change without notice. Always verify current requirements directly with the relevant platform before final submission. We are not affiliated with Amazon, Apple, Kobo, Google, Draft2Digital, or Barnes & Noble.
Freelance book design services (cover design, interior layout, EPUB production, series branding) advertised on this site are separate, paid engagements between you and Zhentao Wen, agreed to individually via direct communication (e.g. email). These Terms of Service govern your use of the epubfile.com website; any paid design project will be governed by a separate agreement or quote confirmed directly with the client before work begins, covering scope, pricing, revisions, and delivery timeline.
The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every browser or device.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Zhentao Wen and EpubFile shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of reading progress, or business interruption. Because the reader stores data locally in your browser, we strongly recommend keeping backups of files important to you, as clearing browser data will permanently remove your local library.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
These Terms are governed by applicable law without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Service will be resolved in accordance with that law.
Questions about these Terms of Service can be sent to hello@zhentaowen.com.
